Join the Essex Base Ball Organization on Saturday October 1, 2016, as members of the vintage base ball community will gather to participate in the 4thannual Jan’s Pitch for Breast Cancer and the Arts, to raise money for cancer research and to fund art education at the Arlington School in Lawrence, MA. Three 1864 rules games will take place at the beautiful Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm in Newbury MA beginning at 11am, featuring teams from all over New England and beyond. According to 1864 rules, players use wooden bats, they don’t wear gloves, and a ball caught on one bounce is an out.
Jan’s Pitch for Breast Cancer and the Arts celebrates Jan Sheehy- a dedicated art teacher and mother of Essex Base Ball Club players Brian and Chris Sheehy- who lost her battle with breast cancer in April of 2013. In the past three years we have raised close to $12,000 that was donated to breast cancer research and art projects at the Arlington School.
Food and drink will be available from Ipswich Ale Brewery.
