Opening Weekend

The Essex Base Ball Association kicked off its 2014 right where 2013 left off as both the Lowell Base Ball Nine and Newburyport Clamdiggers notched commanding victories over the Lynn Live Oaks and Portsmouth Clamdiggers respectively. Despite only have 8 ballists the Lowell Nine in two games plated 45 runs while only allowing 8 to the Live Oaks. The Portsmouth Rockinghams were a little short with the left side of their infield missing and the always tough Clamdiggers made them pay running away with both games.

The Lowell Base Ball Nine playing as the Essex Base Ball Club and the Lynn Live Oaks playing as the Georgetown Samosets will square off Sunday June 1st at 11am at Spencer Peirce Little Farm in Newbury.

The Essex Base Ball Association will open its third season on Sunday May 18th at beautiful Spencer Peirce Little Farm in Newbury, MA. We will be trying something new this year and there will be four games played throughout the day beginning at 10am. The first two games will feature the Lynn Live Oaks vs. the Lowell Base Ball Nine. The Live Oaks have a new roster and are looking to make a splash in their first game in 2014, while the Lowell Nine hopes that they can field a full nine, with three of their players adding babies to their families this offseason. In the last two games of the day will feature the 2013 EBBA champs Newburyport Clamdiggers facing off against the Portsmouth Rockinghams. The Clamdiggers hope to start off where they left off in 2013, while the Rockinghams hope to continue to improve in their second season.
