Old Time Music and Harvest Festival features bluegrass and baseball!

Come celebrate traditional music and a bountiful harvest at the Spencer-Peirce-Little Farm, Little’s Lane, Newbury, MA on Saturday, September 29, from 11 am to 5 pm. Enjoy a day of traditional music, baseball, and farm activities featuring the old-time music of High Range, The Waterfront Park String Band, Rise!, the Bogosian Knoblach Duo, O’Carolan Etc., and more. ** All acts will be performed under a tent so the music will happen rain or shine.

Watch Vintage Base Ball played by 1861 rules. See tractors and other farm equipment spanning the last eighty years. Try your hand at corn husking and win prizes at the pie-eating contest. Learn how simple machines help farmers pump water, press cider, and prepare food. Enjoy a wagon ride through brightly colored autumn fields, build scarecrows, go on a pumpkin treasure hunt, and make fall crafts. Tour the 1690 stone and brick manor house. Cider, donuts, and hot lunch are available for purchase.

Ipswich Fallfest and Lowell vs. Newburyport

On Saturday September 15th the Essex Nine matched up against their long time rivals the Melrose Pondfeilders in the first two matches of three.  In both games the Essex Nine was able to limit the Pondfeilder offense and score at will winning both ends of the doubleheader.  In the third game a mixed nine took on the Mudville Base Ball Club.  In a back a forth game the mixed nine was able to come out on top.  Close to 1,300 fan came out to the festival.  http://muisephoto.wordpress.com/2012/09/19/essex-base-ball-vintage-league-at-the-farm/

Sunday in Essex Base Ball Association play the Lowell Nine took on the Newburyport Clamdiggers.  The Clamdiggers were a little short handed but the Lowell Nine showed no mercy piling on runs winning both sides of the doubleheader.

Big Weekend

This coming weekend is a big weekend for the Essex Base Ball Association, on Saturday we will be taking part in Ipswich Ale’s annual Harvestfest.  Essex will play Melrose at 11am and 12:30.  At 2pm our friends from Mudville will be playing against an EBBA mixed nine.  As always numbers beer trucks will be on hand to pour Ipswich Ale.

Sunday the Lowell Base Ball Nine will take on the Newburyport Clamdiggers in EBBA action starting at 12pm.  Admission will be $5 and free for Historic NE members.

MSPCA Walk

Come join the Essex Base Ball Organization on Sunday September 9th as they participate in the MSPCA walk for animals at 12pm at Spencer Peirce Little Farm in Newbury MA.
