It was “a high sky” in Maine

Brian “The Wizard” Besse and Brett Zanni

This past Saturday the Essex Base Ball Club traveled north to Ever After Mustang Rescue in Biddeford, ME for a fundraiser game against our good friends the Dirigo BBC of Maine.  In the first game the Essex boys ran out to a quick 10 run lead but then in one of the worst single innings in Essex history the Dirigo bats hammered hit after hit evening the score at 10.  Dirigo added another run in the bottom of the 8th but in the top of the 9th Essex woke up and score three runs to make the score 13-11.  Essex’s defense held in the bottom of the 9th to secure the win.

Game two Essex walked away with a 14-5 victory.

We would like to thank the Mustang Rescue Center for hosting the games and to Dirigo for two great games.

I went to these games and it was again a real treat. I haven’t been able to make any games yet this year in Newbury and that wonderful setting. Thanks for being there and for the fine examples you provide. Even though I am from Maine, I was cheering for Essex as I well remember talking to your pitcher (Brian) and how welcome he made us feel in Newbury at our first game.
