Members of the Essex Base Ball Organization could not have asked for a better day this past Sunday to celebrate Father’s Day. With three games played featuring members of the Lowell Base Ball Nine, Lynn Live Oaks, the Rockinghams of Portsmouth, and the Newburyport Clamdiggers the very large crowd that gathered at scenic Spencer Peirce Little Farm in Newbury, MA got their monies worth with fine fielding, great hitting, and some laughs. In the third game we mixed some members of the crowd with some of the “experienced” players and fun was had by all. We would like to make a special thank you to all who participated in the picnic lunch and specifically Bethany Dorau (who coordinated everything) and Bucciarelli’s in Salisbury, MA for providing great sandwiches for lunch. We hope all of the father’s out there had a great day.
The Essex Base Ball Club and Mechanics of North Andover will be traveling north this coming weekend to Cornish Maine to participate in the first New England Vintage Base Ball Festival featuring four other teams including the Flemington Neshanocks, Dirigo BBC, Mudville BBC, and Bristol Blues
