Ipswich Ale’s annual Harvestfest could not have been a better day for the Essex Base Ball Association’s games. In the first game the Live Oaks faced off against the Clamdiggers. In the early innings the game was close but some costly errors allowed the Clamdiggers to pull ahead and never look back winning 16-2. The second game saw the Rockinghams take on the Lowell Nine. Lowell was able to run out to an early lead scoring 4 runs in each the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings and they never looked back. The Rockinghams were able to tally 4 runs in the last two innings but were only able to narrow the margin to 17-8.
On the 21st Cappy will be heading to the Merrimac MA library to be part of Tom and Ellen Zappala’s book launch of Cracker Jack Collection: Baseball’s Prized Players. Then Sunday all teams return to action as the Newburyport Clamdiggers square off against the Portsmouth Rockinghams at 12pm to decide who will secure 2nd place in the EBBA playoffs. Following that game the Live Oaks will face off against the Lowell Nine. Around 3 we will open it up and have another open game. All will be welcome to come try their hand at playing.
