With a long and winning baseball tradition by Town and high school teams, Freeport Historical Society presents a Sunday of Vintage Baseball.
On Sunday, June 26th at 1:00pm at historic Pettengill Farm (located 1 . 5mi from the main LLBean store,) join us on our old-fashioned farmer’s field for an authentic baseball game based on the 1860 rules between the Dirigo (ME) and Essex (MA) Vintage Baseball teams . Bring a blanket or folding chair, an umbrella and enjoy a summer’s afternoon .
After the teams play each other, the community is invited to play the teams!
The Essex “Ump” will explain the rules and the game rules will be will explained and available on our website, http://www.freeporthistoricalsociety.org.
Old-time music from The Maine Squeeze Accordian Band will be featured before and during the game .
Of course, beer was a staple at ballgames since its earliest days and we will not disappoint. Hotdogs, cold drinks and Ben & Jerry’s ice cream will be available, as well . Adult tix: $5 . 00 . Members and kids are free .
The 2004 and 2007 Red Sox Trophies will be on display and we’ll have a Raffle for four Sea Dog’s tickets!
