July 11th and 13th

On July 11th both the Lynn Live Oaks and Essex Base Ball Club headed to Spencer Peirce Little Farm in Newbury for a vintage base ball tripleheader. The first game saw the Live Oaks matched up against the Ipswich Brewers. The game was back and forth for an inning or two but the experience of the Oaks carried the day. The second game was a battle for the ages with the Oaks taking on the Essex Nine. The Oaks took an early lead but the Essex Nine battled back. The Live Oaks did not fade away and retook the lead in the mid innings, but in the top of the 9th the Essex Nine scored three runs to take a 6-4 lead that they did not squander in the bottom of the 9th. The last game was the Essex Nine vs. the Brewers and the experience of the Essex guys won the day. It was a fine day had by all.

Tuesday July 13th members of the Essex Organization and John Shannahan of Mudville did a demonstration on the Boston Common to support the Friends of the Public Gardens.

The Beaneaters return to action the 17th as they travel to Hartford to take on the Hartford Senators at the beautiful Colt Meadows. On the 18th Essex travels to Waterbury to take on the always tough Connors.

We would also like to send out our best wishes to Rob “Stumbles” Michaud who got married on July 10th. All the best to him and his new wife.
