On Saturday the Lynn Live Oaks headed to Ayer and then Littleton, MA for a game against the always dangerous Fitchburg Rollstones. After jumping ahead early in the game the Live Oaks allowed the Rollstones to chip away and cut the lead to 2 going into the last inning but behind the stellar defense of left fielder and captain Aaron Horwitz the Oaks were able to hold off the Stones. It was a well played game and the Oaks look forward to getting back on the field.
On Sunday the Essex Nine squared off against their long time rivals Melrose Pondfielders. The first game saw the EBBC jump out to a lead and never look back winning 6-0. The second game was a back and forth battle with Essex finally pulling ahead and winning by 2 runs. The defense was led by the strong 3rd and 1st base play by Eric Gosselin and Pat Cook. The club was also glad to see Rob “Stumbles” Michaud’s competition level at a strong 9.5.
Due to some recent developments we have decided to have an open game on Saturday May 1st at 12pm at Glen Magna Farms in Danvers, MA http://www.glenmagnafarms.org/
Come try your hand at playing 1861 baseball. All are welcome to come throw the ball around and play with the Essex and Lynn players.
