Close But No Cigar… A night making a bat

On Saturday the Boston Beaneater headed to Brighton, MA to face off against the Boston Colonials in a heavily anticipated showdown.  Jim “Crazy Legs” Wigren took the mound for the Beaneaters and while pitching well was not helped by the sporadic defense of the club.  The Beaneaters went into the mid innings down as many as 7 but battled back to go ahead a run in the top of the 8th.  In the bottom of the 8th the Colonials were able to score 4 runs to go up three runs.  The Beaneaters were able to tally one more run to end up losing 21-19.  It was a hard fought back and forth game.

The Beaneaters return to action July 28th in Warwick, RI.  The next local game is Saturday July 21st as the Essex Nine take on the Waterbury Connors at 12pm at Greater Lawrence Technical High School (57 River Rd. Andover, MA)

Several members of the club headed to our resident bat maker, Patrick Cook’s house, to learn how to make a bat… Check out how he does it.  Soon to be added- How to Make A Lemon Peel Base Ball….
