Despite a game that saw both the Lowell Baseball Nine and the Newburyport Clamdiggers short key players the action on the field this past Sunday was anything but second rate. Both teams sprayed hits all over the field and the lead changed hands numerous times throughout the day but in both games Lowell was able to end up on top 15-13 and 9-7. The Lowell offense was led by homeruns by Chris “Monkey” Sheehy, Eric “Goose” Gosselin, and Brian “Cappy” Sheehy. Patty “Boom Boom” Wadland added another home run for the Clamdiggers. Both teams hope to meet again in the playoffs.
All members of the Essex Base Ball Association return to action Saturday September 14th as they participate in Ipswich Ale’s annual Harvestfest. The festival goes from 12-6 and admission is free. In the 12pm game the Clamdiggers face off against the Live Oaks and then at 1:30 the Lowell Nine take on the Rockinghams. In the 3rd game around 3 members of the EBBA will open up the game and allow fans to try their hand at playing a few innings with the seasoned ballists. All are welcome to come try it out.
