Game Called- Big Weekend Next Week

Due to the weather our game today on Georges Island has been canceled. We are looking to try to reschedule but open dates for us are limited.

Father’s Day weekend is shaping up to be a big one.

Saturday June 19th at 1pm we will be joining up with the NH Granite to celebrate Hampton Academy’s bicentennial. The Essex Base Ball Organization will be on hand to teach the kids about the history of 19th century base ball and let them play a few innings.

Later that night we will be shifting gears and heading to Spencer Pierce Little Farm in Newbury, MA for our first annual Beer, Baseball, and BBQ Dinner. Guests will sample eight brews from Ipswich Ale Brewery, Cisco Brewers, and Sherwood Forest Brewers, paired with innovative barbeque dishes from Tennessee’s Barbeque in Peabody. Along with the dinner Brian “Cappy” Sheehy will be on hand to lecture on baseballs interesting connection to beer and brewers. Lou Blasi one of the authors of T206 The Players and Their Stories will be on hand selling their new book. Tickets for the event are still on sale contact Bethany Groff bgroff@historicnewengland.org or 978-462-2634 but hurry as they are selling fast. Tickets for the dinner will not be sold at the door but you can show up enjoy the lectures and purchase beer.

Sunday June 20th the Essex Base Ball Club, Lynn Live Oaks, the Ipswich Brewers, and other members of the vintage base ball community will be playing ball from 11-4pm at the farm in Newbury . If you ever had an interest in trying your hand at playing Fathers Day is your opportunity. The games will be informal and all will be welcome to try their hand at playing a few innings.
