On a day that looked like it was destined to rain the Essex and Lynn Nines were lucky enough to squeeze in three great games on Saturday at Spencer Peirce Little Farm in Newbury, MA. The first game saw the Essex squad matched up against the Fitchburg Rollstones. Essex marched off to a quick lead and never looked backed winning 9-1. In the second game Fitchburg bested Lynn- the score is not remembered. The third game saw brother verse brother as the Essex and Lynn squads mixed and matched some cranks from the crowd. The captains of the two nines were Chris “Monkey” Sheehy and Brian “Cappy” Sheehy. Cappy’s team of course ran off with an 8-1 victory.
The club would like to thank the Fitchburg guys for making the trip, to Ipswich Ale for providing us with beverages, to Fox 25 for filming the game, and of course to everyone at the farm for allowing us to play there. We look forward to it next year.
